November 2010

Dear Fellow Members
Tell me - whatever happens to time these days? It certainly just seems to fly away - soon, very soon, it will be almost halfway through my year as your District Chairman.
To date I have visited 10 clubs and had the most enjoyable time at each visit. It's strange but maybe it's the magic of Inner Wheel that so far, anyway, all clubs are basically the same, but all put their own individual personality into the meeting - what an interesting time I'm having meeting you all.

Each meeting holds new experiences - the Saxmundham visit satisfied my curiosity about a house that one can see from the old A12 and which I'd never been able to find out about and Letchworth supplied me with a wealth of information about the roots of a garden city which not only has the very first traffic roundabout in the world but had and has the very handsome building that housed the great Spirella Corset factory - we just had coffee there - no corsets these days!

Recently, we've held our Annual Rally and I would like to thank you for the wonderful support you gave from the District. The event, after all the Social Event of the District, and by the sea of happy smiling faces I saw, it certainly fitted the bill. Ickworth House was chosen because of its position in District 8, as central as possible, it is truly a lovely venue and certainly set the scene for a lovely lunch - even the sun appeared. Several Rotarians accompanied their wives this year. I was delighted by this because after all without them there'd be no us!

Inner Wheel has been part of my life for so long but even so it still continues to create new interest, new ideas and perhaps of greatest importance the making of new friends, which in itself widens our horizons. I look forward to the rest of the year with interest and enthusiasm and hope that before June 2011 we can all get together again, as we did at the Rally, and share each other's dreams and thoughts together. I'm sure this enriches our lives.

Yours in friendship
Jacquie
